Boldcare Prosthetics Wins Grant to Transform Rehabilitative Care
Boldcare Prosthetics, a pioneering healthcare company specializing in customized prosthetic and orthotic solutions, has emerged as a primary grant recipient in the fourth edition of the Be Empowered initiative. The program, a flagship project of the Noella Foundation co-founded by Layal Tinubu, concluded its Lagos 2026 cycle by awarding ₦70 million in total grants to a select group of women-led businesses poised for systemic impact across Nigeria.
The selection of Boldcare Prosthetics marks a pivotal moment for the Nigerian healthcare sector, specifically within the niche of rehabilitative medicine. Out of a highly competitive pool of over 2,000 applicants, Boldcare was recognized for its unique integration of clinical precision and social entrepreneurship; a model designed to make high-standard artificial limbs accessible to the average Nigerian.
Founded by professional Prosthetist and Orthotist Bukola Omotosho, Boldcare was established to address a glaring gap in the medical landscape. For many Nigerians living with limb loss, options are often limited to expensive imports or substandard local alternatives. Boldcare’s mission is to provide localized, high-tech fabrication that meets international clinical standards without the prohibitive cost.
“This grant is a catalyst for a transformation we have been preparing for. Winning this support allows us to hedge against inflation, and improve precision in our fittings. This doesn’t just improve the fit; it reduces patient waiting time from weeks to days. We are literally putting people back on their feet faster,” said Bukola Omotosho
The Be Empowered initiative, sponsored by Moniepoint, includes an intensive 8-week bootcamp to help beneficiaries scale. For Boldcare, this represents an opportunity to refine its “Impact Fund,” which subsidizes costs for indigent patients. By building more sustainable structures, Boldcare aims to triple its patient capacity over the next 24 months.
“I am incredibly proud of the innovation demonstrated this year. At the Noella Foundation, we believe access to funding must be matched with capacity building. Boldcare is a prime example of an enterprise that is deeply invested in the impact they create within their communities.” said Layal Tinubu during the presentation.
In the long term, Boldcare plans to establish a center of excellence for prosthetic and orthotic services. By investing in modern digital tools, the company is set to become a regional leader in rehabilitative technology.
