Lisabi Festival: Obasanjo to Speak on Herbal, Traditional Medicine

Former president, Chief Olusegun Obsanjo, has been scheduled to speak during exhibition of traditional and herbal medicine, which is part of activities to celebrate the 2026 Lisabi Festival.
The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, disclosed this at a news conference to herald activities for the 39th edition of Lisabi Festival.
The monarch, who was supported by other high chiefs of Egbaland, said the festival would feature prominently wearing of adire and other traditional attires at events.
According to the monarch, the theme for this year’s celebration: Internship Apprenticeship Training in Education: Opportunities and Challenges”, underscores the need to inculcate learning of skills in education curriculum for solve unemployment and stimulate development.
Oba Gbadebo said the yearly celebration has been of great benefits to the entire Egba sons and daughters as the past editions which had attracted indigenes from both from home and diaspora, featured award of scholarships to students in various categories and levels of education.
He added that several developmental and social amenities like sinking of boreholes and beautification projects were provided by sons and daughters of the ancient town to commemorate the celebrations giving assurance that this year’s edition, would not be an exemption.
The paramount ruler who said Lisabi Festival Celebration is becoming a global event disclosed that flags of several countries of the world would be hoisted at the pavilion as representation of those countries.
In addition, Oba Gbadebo said no fewer than 250 horse riders would feature during Woro Procession that would be led by the Kabiyesi himself.
He gave assurance that adequate arrangement had been made for security during the celebration as men of the Nigerian Army, the Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC), bouncers and other state security apparatus, had been mobilised for the celebration just as men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Ogun State Traffic Management Agency (TRACE), would deal with traffic control.
