The Progressive Youth Movement (PYM) of Okoagbon Community in the Agboyi-Ketu area of Lagos has commended the state government for responding positively to its request for an access road and drainage system.
The group made this known in a press statement issued on Tuesday after officials representing the state government from the state Ministry of Infrastructure visited the Okoagbon Community for an on-site inspection.
According to the statement, the visit followed a letter sent to the governor on Friday, March 6, 2026, titled “Urgent Appeal for Construction of Access Road and Drainage System Linking the Community to the Newly Constructed Bridge in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.”
The statement, signed by the president of the PYM, Kareem Sodiq, said the visiting officials carried out measurements, documentation, and an assessment of the proposed access road corridor during the visit.
Sodiq noted that the swift response of the state government had renewed hope and confidence among residents of the community.
He said the move reinforced the belief that the government of Babajide Sanwo-Olu remains responsive and committed to grassroots development and the welfare of citizens.
He also added that the visit by the officials marked a positive step toward addressing the long-standing infrastructural challenges facing the community.
According to him, residents of the community have struggled for decades with poor access due to the absence of a standard road linking the area to the newly constructed bridge in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
The group also expressed appreciation to the community’s traditional ruler, M. A. O. Oladega, for his guidance, support, and consistent commitment to the development of Okoagbon.
Sodiq further affirmed that the youth group would continue to engage relevant authorities constructively while mobilising community support for sustainable development.
He expressed optimism that the process would lead to the timely construction of the much-needed access road and drainage infrastructure for the community.
