HoganHost Accelerates Pan-African Expansion With .ug Domain Accreditation and Cloud Hosting Growth
By Prince Ansa
Nigeria-founded web hosting company HoganHost is deepening its footprint across Africa as it continues its transition from a local hosting provider into a fast-growing pan-African digital infrastructure brand.
At the centre of this expansion is the company’s recent accreditation to register .ug country-code domains, a development that officially extends HoganHost’s domain registration services into Uganda and strengthens its growing East African presence. The accreditation allows businesses, startups, and individuals to register Ugandan domains directly through HoganHost, reinforcing its commitment to providing localized digital identity solutions across the continent.
Founded in Nigeria by tech entrepreneur Joseph Hogan, HoganHost has grown steadily over the past six years, driven by a clear vision to make web hosting, domain ownership, and cloud infrastructure more accessible to African users. What began as a Nigerian web hosting company has evolved into a multi-service technology platform serving clients across several African markets.
A major driver of HoganHost’s recent growth has been the expansion of its cloud server hosting services, delivered through a strategic partnership with global cloud infrastructure provider DigitalOcean. The collaboration has enabled HoganHost to offer scalable cloud solutions to businesses across Africa, helping startups and enterprises deploy faster, more reliable digital products without relying solely on offshore providers.
Speaking on the company’s recent strides, founder Joseph Effiok Hogan described the .ug domain accreditation as part of a broader continental growth strategy.
“Our focus has always been on building infrastructure that supports African businesses wherever they are,” Hogan said. “From domains to cloud servers, we’re intentionally expanding our services across Africa while maintaining the independence and values that built HoganHost in the first place.”
That emphasis on independence recently came into the spotlight when HoganHost reportedly declined an acquisition offer from Host Africa, choosing instead to remain independently owned and accelerate its expansion across African markets. The decision was widely viewed as a defining moment for the company, underscoring its long-term ambition to build a homegrown African hosting brand with global relevance.
In addition to its cloud and domain expansion, HoganHost has continued to innovate within the digital ecosystem. A few months ago, the company launched a Public Domain Marketplace, a platform that allows individuals and businesses to seamlessly buy and sell domain names online—further broadening its service offerings and creating new opportunities for digital entrepreneurs and domain investors.
These milestones add to a growing list of achievements that include industry awards, increasing international clientele, and recognition of Joseph Hogan’s leadership within Nigeria’s tech space. As HoganHost continues to add new country-specific domains, cloud solutions, and digital products, it is steadily positioning itself as one of Nigeria’s most globally ambitious web hosting companies.
With the .ug accreditation marking another major step forward, HoganHost’s trajectory reflects a larger trend of African tech companies scaling beyond national borders—building infrastructure, serving regional markets, and shaping Africa’s digital future from within the continent.
