Anthony Joshua in Ghastly Road Crash

The famed British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been involved in a car crash in Makun area along Ogun–Lagos state expressway.
The 36-year old who has family roots in Sagamu, a town in Ogun State, south-west Nigeria was on his way to his hometown when the accident occurred. It has been reported that two people died in the crash.
The Ogun state police commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo says an investigation into the accident has been ordered.
“I can confirm to you that an accident occurred and the victim has been taken to the hospital,” he says.
The Divisional Police Officer in Sagamu, Ode Fredrick, says they are heading to the hospital to confirm the casualties involved in the accident.
Video footage circulating on social media shows Joshua being assisted from the wreckage, visibly shaken but alive. Emergency responders and traffic officials arrived promptly, with the Federal Road Safety Corps helping to secure the area and manage traffic.
Anthony Joshua is a former two-time heavyweight champion having held the unified world heavyweight championship twice from 2017 to 2019 and from 2019 to 2021. At regional level, he held the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles from 2015 to 2016.
He is in Nigeria following his recent sixth-round stoppage victory over Jake Paul on December 19 in Miami.
