10th Anniversary: Rivers Monarch Recounts Achievements

A decade after enthronement in office, the paramount ruler of Woji Community in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, His Royal Highness, Dr Emeka Ihunwo, has recounted some developmental projects his regime attracted to his people.
The monarch, recounted the achievements in a book titled, “A Decade of Peace and Development: Achievements of the Woji Council of Chiefs and Elders Under the Leadership of HRH Eze (Dr) Emeka G. Ihunwo”.
During the book presentation yesterday, Eze Ihunwo stated that since his assumption in office, Woji has enjoyed sustained peace, unity, and communal stability.
He revealed that his administration has strengthened traditional governance structures, promoted infrastructural and developmental advancements, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and values.
The book which stands as an authoritative historical document intended for future reference, academic research, and institutional memory, further revealed that Dr Ihunwo regime has built an effective collaboration within the Council of Chiefs and Elders, which has helped in the sustained peace in the community.
The book put together by Woji Chronicle Committee, including Chief Brain (Chairman), Chief Ernest Chinwo (Secretary), Dr Eberechi Echendu, Godspower Ihunwo, Emenike Worgu an Ojiowhor Ibe was produced to comprehensively document the major achievements recorded under the leadership of the monarch over the past decade.
According to the committee, the event represents a significant historical milestone in the continuous development, progress, and governance of the Woji community.
Woji, which is hosting many companies including the oil multinational, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), has in the past suffered series of challenges, including high rate of unemployment, bad roads, land disputes, others.
But with the emergence of King Ihunwo, Woji people and residents have enjoyed, free medical care, steady power supply, scholarships to some of the youths, free skills acquisitions, good roads network, receives annual royalties from companies and other organisations operating in the community.
According the book, “The Council ensures that the said items get to the 12 villages of the community, the CDC, Youths and women, including Rumurinya Woji as well as the Police”, others benefit from the gestures by the companies in the area.
Crown on June 13, 2015, Eze Ihunwo “With the support and robust cooperation of the ever-dependable Woji Council of Chiefs and Elders, has put in place policies and measures that resonate the dynamism and realities of modern administration architecture in Woji town, targeted at peace building, security, human capital development, welfare and general wellbeing of the people and residents of Woji town and beyond”, the chronicle committee added.
