Owobo Ogunde Fronts Star-Studded Nollywood Feature Iwe Ala
Come On Naija has officially begun principal photography on its newest cinematic undertaking, Iwe Ala (Book of Dreams), with distinguished Nollywood actor Owobo Ogunde set to lead the cast.
A performer whose name carries history, craft, and cultural weight, Owobo is the son of the legendary Hubert Ogunde, widely celebrated as the father of Nigerian theatre and a foundational pillar of the modern Nigerian film and performing arts landscape.
His lineage places him within a powerful continuum of artistic excellence — one he continues to honour with each new screen appearance.
Over the past few years, Owobo has emerged as one of Nollywood’s most compelling and technically refined actors, known for delivering performances marked by immersive emotional truth, razor-sharp discipline, and an instinctive command of screen presence.
Directors frequently praise his process as “rigorous, precise, and deeply internal,” qualities that have quickly placed him among his generation’s most respected talents.
In this new film from Executive Producer Olawumi Fajemirokun and Director Adeoluwa Owu (Captain Degzy), Owobo steps into what is already being regarded as one of his most demanding and transformative screen performances.
Speaking from set, he described the project as “one of the most spiritually and artistically charged productions I’ve taken on — a film with impact, depth, and resonance.”
The film Producer, Kene Egbue has expressed profound admiration for Owobo’s work on the production, stating that the actor brings “extraordinary nuance, emotional intelligence, and a theatre-rooted precision that elevates every frame. His interpretation is bold, layered, and deeply affecting.”
Joining Owobo — an actor of pedigree — is an impressive ensemble that includes industry titan Dele Odule, award-winning actress Mercy Aigbe and many more. Together, the cast represents a rare fusion of legacy, star power, and next-generation energy.
Iwe Ala (Book of Dreams) stands as one of Come On Naija’s most ambitious undertakings to date — a project that blends cultural richness, visual elegance, and the emotional sweep of prestige African cinema. With production fully underway, anticipation is rising across Nigeria’s creative industry and among global African film audiences.
With Owobo Ogunde leading the film, expectations are high. His distinctive artistic voice, powerful heritage, and uncompromising approach to performance make this project a significant milestone — not just for the production team, but for Nollywood itself. Iwe Ala is poised to become one of the most talked-about Nigerian film releases of the coming year.
