Osimhen Pushing for Galatasaray to Sign Onyedika

Kunle Adewale with agency report

Victor Osimhen has been trying to convince fellow Super Eagles star Raphael Onyedika to join him at Galatasaray.

Voetbalnieuws.bereported yesterday that Galatasaray are interested in defensive midfielder Onyedika.

While Onyedika was previously linked with a transfer to the Premier League, Galatasaray are mentioned as a potential destination.

According to Turkish media, Onyedika is the top priority for the club from Istanbul.

Coach Okan Buruk has admired the 24-year-old midfielder for some time, and Victor Osimhen is also advocating for the transfer. Osimhen might personally attempt to convince Onyedika, as they are acquainted through the Nigerian national team.

However, Club Brugge’s technical director, Dévy Rigaux, recently expressed hope that Onyedika would sign a new contract and remain for years, adding that a transfer is not currently part of the club’s plans.

Meanwhile,  Galatasaray now only have a final instalment to pay Napoli for the record-breaking transfer of Victor Osimhen last summer.

According to Fotomac, the Turkish champions will pay Napoli a final instalment of 17.5 million euros in March 2026 to complete the transfer fee of 75 million euros agreed for the striker last summer.

There were wide-spread fears that Galatasaray will default in these payments and hence Napoli hard stance during the transfer negotiations

Osimhen, 26, has already proved money well spent by Galatasaray.

He has scored six goals in the UEFA Champions League to give ‘Gala’ a good chance to advance to the knockout rounds of the competition.

He has also netted five goals in the Super Lig, including a winning brace against Samsunspor Friday night.

Galatasaray are top of the standings, four points clear of their closest rivals.
