MC Dammy Set for ‘Owambe 2.0: Faaji Repete’

Popular wedding MC and events compere , Adedamola Oni, better known as MC Dammy, is set to host the second edition of his cultural showcase, “Owambe 2.0: Faaji Repete,” on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

The event, endorsed by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, promises a night of comedy, live music, dance, and the vibrant energy synonymous with Yoruba celebrations.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the show, MC Dammy said he created it as a platform to preserve and elevate Yoruba party culture within Nigeria’s creative economy.

“I designed ‘MC Dammy Live Owambe 2.0: Faaji Repete’ as a structured cultural programme to document, professionalise, and scale Yoruba party culture,” he said. “After over a decade as a professional MC and event manager, I saw the need to curate owambe in a way that preserves our values and raises standards, not just entertains.”

The first edition, held at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, in 2024, received wide commendation for its creativity and organisation. However, Mc Dammy revealed that putting it together came with its own challenges.

“Securing sponsorship for the first edition was the hardest part,” he noted. “We ran a lean operation and relied on goodwill while maintaining professional standards. That experience helped us build better systems for this edition—structured budgets, vendor agreements, safety plans, and a more defined content flow.”

He added that Owambe 2.0 aims to give attendees a complete cultural experience that celebrates heritage and professionalism.

“From the red carpet showcasing native attire to comedy, live music, and cultural dance, I want guests to leave with pride in Yoruba heritage and an appreciation for the effort it takes to present culture at scale,” he said.

According to MC Dammy, the annual event is envisioned to grow into a major fixture on Nigeria’s entertainment calendar, spotlighting the richness of Yoruba tradition while appealing to a modern audience.
