“SCRIPTURE SOUNDS”:  Min. Adeoluwa Makes a Grand Sonic  Statement  With New Playlist

By Emmanuel Daraloye

Nurturing a connection with God comes through different ways for different people. For many, it’s through prayers, while others rely on worship. What’s more is finding a blend of the two through the songs of an inspired talent.

“SCRIPTURE SOUNDS,” a spirit-filled body of work by Min. Adeoluwa, is a debut effort showing a new unfurling grace in his career. Adeoluwa Boluwajaiye, a rising gospel artist, officially began his recording career in 2024. Although he has over nine years of experience leading worship across churches and concerts across the globe, “SCRIPTURE SOUNDS” serves as his official entry into the formal gospel music space as a playlist. Recommended by a fellow music critic and longtime admirer of the Minister’s performances, this debut playlist feels refreshing and carries a deep sonic grace that invites hours of listening and even longer moments of reflection, which makes it of interest to a critic.

The first track, “It is Written in His Word,” released on the 5th of March, 2025, starts with the strumming of a guitar, embraced by the keyboard. “SCRIPTURE SOUNDS” was both exciting and challenging. The recording processes pushed him beyond his comfort zone and deepened his appreciation for music production, broadening his perspective as an artist. The Minister’s voice hushed in an equalized strain, here, pecking the soul to have faith and believe, for it is possible, because,  “IT IS WRITTEN.” The song settles gently on a country-like sound that blends genres and experiences. This evocative sound thrives on themes like faith, healing, and motivation, which only God gives because He has written them all. The track communicates conviction and intimacy, drawing the listener into a reflective and motivational space. However, the lack of a well-balanced Graphic Equalizer in the song made the sound production mildly harsh, which hinders how celestial it would have flown the soul.

In an ensemble entrance, “Mary’s Praise,” the second track, released on the 28th of April, 2025, saunters in like tongues of rushing lava: hot, energetic, mind-blowing, yet spirit-filled. This downbeat hits carries the spirit and sound of the keyboard, drumset, guitar, among others, which makes it possible to arrest the body, mind, and soul of the listener in a flash. Very shortly, it halts and continues with a mildly slow tempo, demonstrating careful control of pacing and tension. With the minister starting with, “My soul magnifies the Lord…” the listener is drawn into the sonic oxymoron and the powerful words that follow, highlighting the song’s ability to combine technical skill with spiritual storytelling. However, an intuitive listener should have expected more creative use of the saxophone which was sparsely used in this track, hence, not intensifying as expected. Acknowledging this masterpiece, though, it was nominated for the GXAWARDS in the UK gospel scene.

From the snare to the rolling toms, and the rhythmic bass kick, to the call and response, Min. Adeoluwa doesn’t only arrest the ears of the listeners, but also the mind. In an attempt to create a flair, Min. Adeoluwa modulates at some points in the song, which evokes intensity, builds thrills, and creates elated tension. “And Mary said: ‘My soul glorifies the Lord…’” This is the moment where Mary expresses joy, reverence, and awe after being told she will bear Jesus. Min. Adeoluwa draws his inspiration from here and pulls his listeners into the same emotional space, demonstrating both interpretive sensitivity and emotional intelligence in performance.

The third track, “The Names of God,” released on the 31st of July, 2025 envelopes the soul with the wriggled “Sekere,” colliding gently with the clasping hi-hats, konga, and raised drums. His ad-libs give the song an energy that swirls the soul, demonstrating an instinctive understanding of dynamics and engagement. The artist uses repetition, showing passion, longing, and yearning to worship God, reinforcing the song’s emotive strength and spiritual resonance.

This sonic call-response style employed by the singer eases the flow of the song, reflecting his skill in blending traditional worship techniques with recorded “performance.” The mildly slow-tempoed highlife settles on a keyboard, with heart-thumping bass, soul-calling trumpets and saxophones, among diverse percussions which draw in the ecstatic moments bellowed by the waves of the spirit. It should be noted, too, that the song is culturally in tune, as Min. Adeoluwa worshiped God with the use of traditional percussion, also not forgetting African languages, even while he blended it with the Western, showcasing both versatility and respect for musical heritage. Although, in the process of arranging the lyrics, there should have been some moments for only the use of trad percussions, which would have added beauty and a more cultural identity.

“SCRIPTURE SOUNDS” the compelling playlist from Min. Adeoluwa, unveils his musicality and spiritual depth. The album masterfully blends rhythms with production, demonstrating an artist willing to push boundaries. From soulful, intimate moments to powerful, full-ensemble arrangements, this body of work establishes Min. Adeoluwa as a fresh, rising voice in gospel music, capable of moving both the heart and the mind.
