Over the years, I have watched how noise over shadowed the real stars with empty hype, making them fade in no time. But, there’s always an artist who stands firm, and whose foundation ain’t built on social media hypes, but on a solid foundation of Hardwork and creativity.

Meet AGU Oluchi Olivia, a rising songstress who back in primary school was a part of an “All boys band”, that made it a rare for her as the only girl in the band. For Livia, this was an invitation to break the odds to even.

“As a female in this industry in current time, belonging to an “All boys band”, taught me confidence, determination and Hardwork. “I went all out on my passion” she tells me, reflexting on those days she was behind the drum kit. “For the fact that it’s more male dominated and was perceived as ‘not’ a career for a woman”, I had to wear the armor of self belief regardless of how I was perceived as at the time and the gender perception on why a lady should be behind the drum kit.

That stubbornness has served her well. Livia didn’t stop at drums; she creatively mastered how to play other instruments like the guitar, keyboard, clarinet, and sax, before diving into production. She wanted to understand the spices that makes beautiful music what it was. “It shaped my understanding on songwriting, the melody and harmony in it”. Livia explains that “she believes that a great song starts with an amazing harmony and learning it’s compositions and components was a thing she enjoyed doing”.

Now, Livia is directing all that technical mastery into her upcoming Extended Play (EP), ‘Rhythms and Soul’. This is a project that has grown above the shores and has refused her staying in one lane, navigating from Afro-Contemporary to soul and dancehall.

“The EP RYHTHM and Soul is a spice up EP that drives deep into our everyday life experiences: focusing on love, unity, peace, clarity of purpose and dance,” Livia says

Her expertise in fusing different genres, stands her out as one female artist to behold in no time.

From “UDO (Peace)”, to other genres of songs on the EP, LIVIA’s mission is simple: “Unity, peace and love that cuts across different music style, genre and language.

Mere looking at Livia, you can tell that the girl who was just the only girl in the “All boys band” has found her true Rhythm.
