We’re Tackling Malnutrition, Building Healthier Nigeria – Ifunanya Anona, Ichow Nigeria Boss Reveals Bold Plan

In an inspiring tale of entrepreneurship and dedication to national development, Abuja-based Ichow Nigeria Limited has emerged as a leading indigenous manufacturer of nutritious food products, catering to families across Nigeria and beyond. Founded in 2019 by Barr. Ifunanya Anona, a lawyer and versatile entrepreneur, the company produces HILSNOSH Instant Cereals and beans flour, providing healthy meals for babies, children, and adults.

Barr. Anona, in an exclusive interview, revealed that the company has already served over 1,700 children within and outside Nigeria, using strictly locally sourced ingredients processed under high-quality standards. “At Ichow Nigeria Limited, we don’t just make food; we nourish futures,” she said passionately. “Our mission is to transform lives through healthy nutrition while supporting local farmers and creating jobs in our communities.”

The company’s impact extends beyond food production, with initiatives such as school outreaches, entrepreneurship programs, trainings on food and agro processing, nutrition-based events, and fun activities for children—all aimed at promoting wellness and education. Despite its successes, Ichow Nigeria Limited faces challenges, including logistics, unreliable power supply, human resource constraints, and inconsistent government policies. However, the founder remains optimistic. “Every challenge is an opportunity to innovate,” she stated. “We are self-funded, but our passion drives us forward.”

Looking ahead, Barr. Anona shared ambitious plans for expansion, including increasing production capacity, introducing more family-friendly food products, and launching nationwide health initiatives. “In five to ten years, we see Ichow as a household name, not just in Nigeria but across Africa, championing nutrition and sustainable growth,” she affirmed.

Calling for stronger partnerships with stakeholders, government agencies, and investors, Barr. Anona emphasized the need for collective effort in building a healthier nation. “Together, we can ensure that nutritious food is a right, not a privilege,” she concluded.

With its commitment to quality, community empowerment, and innovation, Ichow Nigeria Limited is set to play a pivotal role in reshaping Nigeria’s food industry and improving the well-being of families nationwide.
