Kingdom Benefit Street Conference Brings Worship to the Heart of Benin City

The streets of Benin City were transformed on Tuesday, 28th November 23, as W-Recordz Media Enterprises staged its annual Kingdom Benefit Street Conference, an open-air gathering that combined music, worship, and prayer in a public setting.

Now in its yearly cycle, the event is convened by Worshipp Oluwafemi, founder of W-Recordz. It has been positioned as both a platform for gospel expression and an exercise in taking religious practice beyond conventional church spaces. The conference has developed a following among residents who see it as an accessible avenue for community-wide participation in praise and worship.

This year’s edition featured several gospel musicians, including Minister Promise Effiong, who performed to an engaged audience. The evening programme blended live music with collective prayer, while drawing attention to W-Recordz’s work in promoting Christian music and media.

For organisers, the choice of location remains central to the conference’s identity: the decision to host the gathering on the streets, rather than in a hall or church auditorium, is intended to bring faith-based activities into everyday urban life. Crowds of onlookers, passers-by, and participants contributed to an atmosphere that was part concert, part worship service.

While centred on religious expression, the event also underscores the role of independent media enterprises like W-Recordz in shaping cultural life in Nigerian cities. By merging performance with ministry, the Kingdom Benefit Street Conference has carved a space in Benin City’s annual calendar where faith intersects visibly with public culture.
