Henry Ogiri Achieves Full Professorship at Gregory University
Gregory University, Uturu, has promoted Henry Ogiri to the position of Professor, thus marking his rise to the peak of a career that cuts across academia, commercial, and public service administration. Ogiri, a Nigerian academic who was born in July 1965, joined Gregory University as a Senior Lecturer in 2016 and rose to Professor in this year.
Ogiri’s academic background includes an Higher Diploma in Accounting from Plateau School of Accounting & Management Studies in Jos, a BA (Hons) in Accounting & Financial Management from the University of Sunderland, UK, an MBA from Rivers State University in Port Harcourt, and MSc and PhD degrees in Accounting from Leeds Beckett University in the UK. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
Apart from his academic duties, Ogiri has held significant administrative roles, most notably as Executive Director (Finance & Administration) in Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). He is currently a member of Gregory University as Professor of Accounting and Associate Dean of Postgraduate Studies. Ogiri is also said to have affiliation as a visiting fellow in Leeds Beckett University, United Kingdom, where he has taught at the Centre for Governance, Leadership, and Global Responsibility.
The university confirmed the appointment, noting that the advancement reflects recognition of Ogiri’s contributions to accounting education and governance studies. Ogiri is married with children and is described as an advocate for youth empowerment through education and public service.
