Three Killed as Robbers Attack Bullion Van in Ondo

Three persons, including a mobile policeman and one civilian, were yesterday shot dead by robber, who attacked a bullion van at Ofosu town on the Benin-Ore-Ijebu Ode Expressway in Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State.
The incident, was the second within two weeks, as dare devil robbers, had on August 18, attacked another bullion van at Emure Junction, near Owo and injured many persons including a policeman.
The incident, according to a source, occurred at Costain area, few kilometers from Ore Headquarters of Odigbo Local Government.
The source, said the robbers opened fire on the bullion van and the escort van while on motion.
It was gathered that the van was conveying undisclosed amount of money to a company located at Araromi Obu, when the robbers that laid ambush for the team struck.
As at the time of filling this report, it was not known whether the robbers were successful in carting away money in the van.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Ondo State Command, Mrs. Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident.
Odunlami said: “ Yes, some armed robbers indeed attacked a bullion van at a village very close to Ore. The bullion van was coming from Benin in Edo State, heading to Michelin Robber Company, at Araromi Obu when the incident happened.
