Osarenren Derek Izedonmwen, the gubernatorial candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming Edo election, outlined his vision for the state’s future, emphasizing agriculture, industrialization, and infrastructure as key pillars during the formal presentation of his certificate of return and party flag.

Izedonmwen highlighted the significance of industrialization, aiming to establish processing plants to add value to agricultural products locally, creating jobs, and diversifying the economy.

He stressed the importance of agriculture, industrialization, and infrastructure, emphasizing their interdependence in improving livelihoods and fostering prosperity in Edo State.

Izedonmwen also expressed gratitude to Nigerian workers for their resilience amidst economic challenges, pledging to lead a government that prioritizes the people’s welfare.

he said, “I want to tell the people of Edo something and that’s the core of our manifesto, it stands on three pillars and you can take this to the bank because that’s what we are going to do when we come into office.

“The number one pillar is agriculture, number two is industrialization and number three is infrastructure. Number three is to support number one and two. Why did we take these two points? Because if you go back in time we have not been a hungry people, we have been very wealthy and that wealth has come from the land. There is no reason for any Nigerian today to be hungry.

“There is no reason for any person in Edo going to bed without eating a three-square meal. But today, we see it happening. So when we come into office by God’s grace, we are going to turn things around and use technology and fresh thinking to cultivate our land primarily for feeding our people and then for export.”

National Chairman of ADC, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, declared the beginning of a new era for Edo State, promising an end to clueless governance and a focus on progress under Izedonmwen’s leadership.

He said, “We have begun the liberation of Edo State from this event. We want to say enough is enough. The era of cluelessness in governance has ended. The era of taking the Nigerian people for granted is over. Izedonmwen will take the people of Edo to where they should be.

“Today, we are not just presenting a certificate of return to the governor, but we are presenting a certificate of liberation. We must not make any other mistake. The African Democratic Congress will take the whole of Nigeria by storm, starting with Mr. Derek in Edo State.”

Deputy Governorship candidate Philip Osagie affirmed their commitment to a people-oriented government, aligning with Izedonmwen’s vision for Edo’s future.
