A chieftain of the Labour Party in Anambra State and former governorship aspirant, Mr. Paul Orajiaka, has emphasised the need for party unity and has assured members of his readiness to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the party remains a major force in the state.
Orajiaka gave this assurance when he met with state executives of the party recently in Awka and emphasised the need for unity among party members.
He said that the party must have a strong dispute resolution mechanism to ensure that issues that could cause rifts among members are speedily resolved.
According to him, “all members of the party and those aspiring for elective offices in coming elections should put the party first and above personal ambition, as a victory for any Labour Party’s candidate is a victory for everyone.
“Let us be united as a family and let the bond of comradeship hold the chapter together so the party takes its rightful position as a vehicle through which good governance will come to the people, both at the state and national level.”
Orajiaka was welcomed to the party’s office by state executives and state working committee members that included the Anambra State Chairman of Labour Party, Mr. Ugochukwu Emeh; Deputy State Chairman, Hon. Ngozi Obiorah; State Secretary, Col. Victor Ndulue (rtd); State Youth Leader, Mr. Ekene Nnadi and State Legal Adviser, Mr. Uche Ebo, as well as all the party’s chairmen and secretaries in the state’s 21 local government.
Orajiaka also met with local government executives and the 20 wards executives of Ihiala Local Government in Okija where he also had fruitful deliberations with them as part of his consultation with grassroots leaders of the party.
Emeh told Orajiaka that the party has enough quality members and candidates who are committed to value-based leadership.
He said: “The party leadership will focus on giving every one of these quality valuable members and candidates a level playing ground for all of them to aspire for their various political interests.”
