Market Fire: Govt Will Assist Victims, Says Zamfara Gov

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has pledged government’s assistance for traders who suffered losses during the recent fire incident at the Gusau Central Market.

A statement on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said Lawal spoke while on a visit to the market to assess the level of the damage.

Assessing the damage caused by the fire, Governor Lawal vowed to help those affected by the tragic event.

While condoling the victims, statement quoted the Governor as saying that, government will do everything possible to alleviate their suffering and help them recover.

Lawal said, “I would like to express my condolences to the market leadership and the family of the victims who passed away due to the recent fire incident.

“Even before the unfortunate fire incident, I constituted a committee to conduct a thorough investigation on how government can intervene to enhance and develop the markets across the state.

“My government is committed to supporting the victims of the fire incident and will explore various ways to mitigate their loss.”

Responding on behalf of the victims, the market’s Chairman commended government for its prompt response following the unfortunate incident.
