‎House Asks Buhari to Replace IG over Alleged Incompetence

By James Emejo in Abuja
In what could be considered as a vote of no confidence on the Inspector General of Police (IG), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, the House of Representatives Wednesday passed a motion calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to replace him with a more professional police officer.
The resolution followed a motion sponsored by Hon. Danburam Abubakar Nuhu (APC, Kano) on the need to curb thuggery in political activities in Kano State and Nigeria in general.
But in the build-up to the resolution, the lower chamber had separately approved a motion instructing the IG to provide an unreserved apology to the Governor of Benue State, Mr. Samuel Ortom, over the derogatory statements of the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) and relieve him of the position immediately.
