The Amazing Talents School, Idimu in a colourful event that attracted professionals and key stakeholders in education sector, recently, celebrated its 10 year anniversary and the school’s 2017 graduation and prize-giving day marking the end of the 2016/2017 academic session.

The Proprietor and Chairman of the school, Mr. Eddy Odviwri thanked God for the journey so far, noting that 10 years is a major milestone as the school has been moulding characters, developed the total child and improved the stock of the next generation.

He listed some of its success stories to include impressive performances in academic and sporting competitions; movement of the school from a rented building to a much more fitting environment for effective teaching and learning, adding that these did not come without their challenges.
Inspite of the challenges, he noted that the management and staff have remained committed to its vision and particularly encouraged by the students’ outstanding performances in external exams as well as its products impressive achievements in the larger school environments.

According to him, “as a school, we have set out not only to contribute to the breeding of a new generation of Nigerians, but also do so with precision and panache. Our products have continued to serve as beacons of decency and promise in the large Nigerian space. Yet, we have always strive to improve our services every passing year.
“As a testimony, the performance of our children in academic and sporting competitions have continued to get better and better. Only recently, the school recorded 100 per cent success at the Lagos State Model College entrance examination, just as we have achieved remarkable feats in other fields.”

Odviwri said that ATS has continued to improve the quality and its education delivery by exposing the pupils to 21st century skills like critical thinking, problem solving, IT skills such as coding among others.
“We are poised to improving the stock of the next generation of Nigerians, starting from our own little corner here. This explains why we have hinged our activities on the four cardinal pillars of knowledge, technology, morals and discipline. We believe that all these form a collective set of attributes and skills that are required to become successful especially in our contemporary world.”
He called on government to step up ways and means of inculcating right, noble and progressive values into Nigerian children

He advised that Christian Religious Knowledge(CRK) be made a full subject with a renewed content, saying, “the need to produce children sound in both the head and mind cannot be overemphasised. That is why the recent controversy over the removal of CRK as a subject of study in our school curriculum is of concern to us. It is not enough to make it a part in Civic Education; it should stand as a full subject with a renewed content, if nothing else to further deepen the right values of life in our children.

The Chairman of the Occasion and former Editor, Vanguard Newspapers, Mr. Mideno Bayagbon congratulated the graduates and their parents, noting that education remains the best foundation parents can lay for their children to build upon.
He also urged parents not to get weary in seeing to their children’s saying that denial would be detrimental to both parents and their children.

Recalling how the journey started 10 years ago, the Head Teacher, Mrs. Patricia Akunasha said that the school has from inception maintained a very high standard both in its quality of staff, teaching and learning processes, adding that this has aided the ATS team in sustaining the founder’s mission of raising children from the foundational level with functional literacy, numeracy and basic life skills who will be the pride of their parents.
