Odeyemi noted that there is no nation around the world that developed without given priority to polytechnic and technological institutions, adding that much attention should be given to polytechnic education in Nigeria.

He said that polytechnic education should be given a pride of place because that is the only institution where skills are acquired for self-development.

“The world is changing and technology is already driving the world and every nation yearning for development must embrace technology.

“Our government must focus and encouraged polytechnic education capable of turning the nation around,” he said.

He stressed that the aims and objectives of establishing polytechnics and schools of technology are for training and skills acquisition, which would help to drive economy from consumption to production.

He stated that OSCOTECH has been training students for both OND and HND in the field of technology, adding that 90 percent of courses run in the institution are technological based, just as he said that efforts are being made to introduce Mass Communication’s department.

Odeyemi, who used the occasion to implore alumni association of the institution to come to the aid of some less privileged students who are willing to read but lacked financial capability to fund their education.

He appreciated some people who have been supporting the education and progress of some students of the institution, especially the Rector, Dr. S. A. O. Adegoke, and other management team for their unalloyed support to him since he assumed office.
