Fashion Stylist, Anne Ime, Holds Debut Symposium

Anne Ime, the founder of the Nigerian fashion brands, AI Styling and Fashion Outfit recently held a one-day symposium in Lagos to discuss crucial issues in the fashion and style industry. A first-of-its-kind, the event had in attendance notable Nigerian fashion heavyweights and stylists.

Ime in her opening remark disclosed that she was inspired to launch a platform where stylists could network and learn so they could thrive and maximise their full potential.

“We want to have a community where we constantly raise excellent fashion entrepreneurs through close mentorship and training,” Ime said. “Back in March, I realized there had to be an organised support system for stylists where we can share, learn and find ways to drive innovation and profitability,” she continued.

The keynote speaker, Jumoke Shotonwa, a reputable fashion businesswoman, highlighted the need to be deliberate in building one’s personal brand. “Humans are very big on what they see, so don’t joke with your personal brand,” she observed.

A fashion entrepreneur Diipo Ayo-Adeusi, emphasized the need to cherish one’s clients. “You have to cradle your clients. The fact that they might be having a bad day does not mean they are bad. Learn to treat them the way you would want to be treated,” he stated.

Ime stressed the importance of dedication, networking and constantly reinventing oneself as guarantees to success. She noted that these have helped her to grow from styling her friends for free, to working on top commercial campaigns.

“Even though I would say I stumbled into fashion and style, carving my own niche has enabled me to hone my strengths and quality of delivery, and I have been privileged to work with reputable individuals and organizations like Leadway Assurance, Nescafé, Mastercard, Stanbic IBTC, La Casera, Tom Tom, Lush hair, and a host of others.”

Responding to some of the questions from the audience, the host announced that “the Stylists’ Community will cater to every niche from bridals, editorials, wardrobe management to commercials and many more.”
