Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has said the ascension of Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari to the throne of his forefathers in the last 28 years has marked a new positive beginning for the respected institution and the people of Ilorin emirate.
AbdulRazaq stated this in Ilorin on Saturday on the occasion of the 28 years coronation anniversary of the Emir.
The Governor commended the Emir for being an outstandingly peaceful and diplomatic leader whose credentials as a statesman, lover of culture and tradition, and generosity have rubbed off positively on the people and their wellbeing.
He beseeched Allah to give the Emir and chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs good health, steady his feet on the right path, and ease his affairs as he continues to lead the people
Also, Chairman Senate Committee on Agriculture Provisions and Rural Development and the Turaki of Ilorin, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has said the reign of Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari has opened a new vista and uncommon transformation for the Ilorin Emirate.
Mustapha in a statement issued in Ilorin yesterday felicitated with the Emir of Ilorin on the 28th coronation anniversary, saying that his reign has opened a new vista and uncommon transformation for the Ilorin Emirate.
Senator Mustapha added that under the Emir’s benevolent reign, the Ilorin Emirate has been experiencing a remarkable era of enduring peace, progress, and prosperity, which spans nearly three decades.
He however said, “Our prayer is that Almighty Allah elongates your earthly journey with renewed and quality health to further serve Him and humanity”.
The opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state in its statement also lauded the Ilorin Emir for peaceful co-existence and infrastructural development of the state.
A statement issued in Ilorin yesterday signed by the state Chairman of the PDP, Rt. Hon. Tunde Muhammed to mark the 28th coronation of the Ilorin Emir, the party described the Emir as a bastion of Emirate culture and tradition
The statement, however, noted that, ”within the last 28 years of his reign, the Emir has played significant roles in the promotion of harmonious relationships among Kwarans of different ethnic and religious backgrounds”.
