The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has expressed its readiness to partner Eastwing Aviation Training School to boost the aviation sector in the southeast.

ESUT representatives made this known during the inspection of the Eastwing Aviation Training School ahead of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The Dean of Engineering at ESUT, Prof. G.O. Mbah, representing the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, said: “One of the best things happening to ESUT now is trying to establish synergy or link with other institutions.”

He recalled how the Eastwing team visited his office two months ago. “I saw an opportunity to move ESUT beyond the way we thought.

“This makes me certain about the growth of the Southeast. Henceforth, my team and I will put our best foot forward to ensure the programme excels.

“I promise you, we will take this message to the Vice Chancellor and the management that something bigger than what we’ve been envisaging will begin to happen,” Mbah said.

Proprietor and CEO of the training school, Dr. Christopher Edeh, said the Igbos had been left behind in the scheme of things in the aviation industry.

Edeh, however, recalled how the former governor of the state, Chimaroke Nnamani, encouraged him before he secured a job at Nigeria College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State.

In his efforts to give back to society, Edeh insisted on establishing the school in Enugu State amid calls to take it to Lagos.

The CEO firmly expressed commitment to seeing the southeast youths and environs encouraged and given a chance to thrive. He added that although the school specialised in training the engineers only when they took off the ground, others, including the cabin crew flight dispatch, among other relevant training, joined swiftly.

“We plan to visit primary and secondary schools to assist students who can’t afford their tuition fees, even if it’s paying their WAEC examination,” Edeh said.
