Zamfara Abduction: Troops Rescue 6 Female Gusau Varsity students,  Kill Bandits

Troop of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadarin Daji, (OPHD), have intercepted the abductors of the female students of Federal University Gusau (FUG) who were kidnapped in the early hours of Friday and rescued six of them.

Thisday gathered that the troops of the OPHD who pursued the kidnappers traced them to a thick forest and engaged them in a gun duel supported by air components of the Nigerian Air Force, (NAF).

A reliable source from the military, said six of the abducted students were rescued, and several of the terrorists were killed.

The troops also recovered rifles, motorcycles, and other items from the terrorists.

The rescue operation follows the abduction of some female students from their rented hostels at Sabon Gida community, few meters away from the Federal University, Gusau.

Residents of the area said fighter jets were currently hovering around the forest and sound of heavy gunshots were heard,  indicating exchange of fire between the military and the bandits.
