The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to the smooth and effective take off of University of Ilesa, Osun State.

Adeleke gave this assurance while receiving the leadership of the National Universities Commission (NUC), which was led by the Executive Secretary of NUC, Ambassador Chris Maiyaki, at the governor’s country home in Ede.

He assured the visiting NUC team that the state government would give all necessary support to facilitate the smooth take and sustainability of the young university.

The governor described the Vice Chancellor of University of Ilesa, Professor Taiwo Asaolu, as a round peg in a round hole who was appointed based on his pedigree and ability to take the newly established citadel of learning to stardom.

He solicited the support of the NUC for the two state universities, affirming the readiness of his administration to provide all needed logistics for the operation of the new university.

Earlier in his address, the executive secretary of NUC commended Adeleke for his enthusiasm for the development of education and passionate commitment to entrenching good governance.

Maiyaki said that the NUC’s team was in the state to gather firsthand information on the state of preparedness of the university to commence academic activities, saying that the vice chancellor has briefed the commission about the uncommon level of support being provided by the state governor.

According to him, their recommendations would enable JAMB to enlist the University of Ilesa as a school of choice for admission seekers and also enable the university to be eligible to draw necessary support in terms of grants and aid from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), and other relevant bodies.

Maiyaki alsosolicited the continued support of the governor for sustainable funding of the university while lauding his passion for education and good governance that have endeared him to millions of Nigerians within Osun State and beyond.
