Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State have arrested a cleric, Adebolu Olulusi Ayodeji, for allegedly defrauding a job seeker, Mrs. Taiwo Opesanmi, of the sum N1.2million.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NSCDC, Ondo State Command, Daniel Aidamenbor, who stated this yesterday, said the 43-year-old cleric allegedly collected various sums of money from the victim under the guise of helping her to secure a job at NNPC between 2019 and 2020.

According to him, the cleric, who resides at number 1, Ore Ofe, Irese Road Akure, the state capital, became incommunicado in 2020, noting that Mrs. Taiwo Opesanmi met the cleric at a prayer mountain somewhere at Ijoka in Akure through a referral.

According to him, “The Counter Terrorism Unit of the Command was able to track down and arrested the suspect with the cooperation of a commercial bank after obtaining a court order. At the point of the investigation, another victim of the cleric also accused him of selling land to her using a fake deed for N800,000.

“She had to pay another N1 million to the rightful owner of the land since she already had a structure on it. The suspect has already made a written confessional statement, and will have his day in court after the investigation for breaching Section 419 of the Criminal Code Act.”
