Jasper SMEFest Launches Campaign Towards  A Trillion Dollar SME Economy

In a bid to accelerate Nigeria’s economic transformation, SMEFest2025, hosted by Jasper SME Hub at the University of Lagos, convened visionary entrepreneurs, policymakers, and investors to chart the course toward a trillion-dollar SME economy for the nation by 2030.

Themed “Towards a Trillion Dollar SME Economy,” the gathering emphasized the incredible role of small and medium enterprises in boosting GDP, driving job creation, and fostering economic diversification. Emmanuel Olujobi, a leading advocate for SME growth, announced the launch of the Jaspa app—a cutting-edge platform designed to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and empower SMEs to scale effortlessly in an increasingly competitive global market.

Over the years, SMEFest has solidified its reputation as a leading platform for empowering businesses through knowledge sharing and strategic networking at the start of each year. This year’s discussions revolved around the transformative potential of SMEs in critical sectors such as agriculture, technology, and manufacturing. With agriculture alone projected to contribute 26% to GDP by 2025, the conference highlighted the urgent need for SMEs to leverage technology and innovation to drive sustainable growth. The integration of fintech solutions was a focal point, reinforcing Nigeria’s emerging dominance in Africa’s digital economy.

With SMEs contributing over 50% to Nigeria’s GDP and generating 70% of non-oil exports, their role in attracting foreign direct investment and expanding financial inclusion cannot be overstated. The event concluded with a resounding call to action: entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers must unite to build a resilient, technology-driven SME ecosystem that propels Nigeria toward economic prosperity.
