Should Juventus Sack Allegri?

Sport |2022-10-10T08:17:00

Max Allegri is currently coming under mounting pressure to start getting results and improve the team’s performance, or he could end up getting the sack. The club has gotten off to its worst start to a domestic season in recent memory and are currently in seventh place in the Serie A league (Italy’s top tier of men’s professional football) with just 13 points.

Here, we will be taking a closer look at whether they should keep hold of Allegri or whether it’s time to get rid of him and find another manager to replace him.
Who is Max Allegri?

Max Allegri is one of the most successful managers in men’s professional football. The former midfield player is the current manager of Juventus, and the 55-year-old was born in Livorno, Italy, in 1967. Before managing Juventus, he started his managerial career at Aglianese (2003-2005). He also had brief spells at SPAL, Grosseto, Sassuolo, and Cagliari. He managed AC Milan from 2010 to 2014 before joining Juventus and having his first and most successful spell as a manager from July 2014 until May 2019.

During his first spell at Juventus, he managed 271 games, winning 191, drawing 43, and losing just 37, which gave him an impressive win rate of 70.48%. In that time, his team scored 511 goals and conceded 195. He won the Serie A championship title on five separate occasions (2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, and 2018/19), as well as the Coppa Italia on four separate occasions (2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, and 2017/18). He was also the runner-up in the UEFA Champions League in the 2015/15 and 2016/17 seasons.

His second spell at Juventus has been less successful, and some people are already calling for him to be sacked. They are currently experiencing their worst start to a Serie A season, having earned just 13 points from 8 games. They have won 3 of these games, drawn 4, and lost 1, and they have scored 12 goals and let in 5. Roma are currently in 6th. AC Milan are in 5th. Lazio are in 4th. Udinese are in 3rd. Atalanta are in 2nd, and Napoli are at the top of the table.

Can Juventus still win Serie A?

If you live in Africa, or, more specifically, Ghana, the best way to get a clearer picture of whether or not Juventus can win the current 2022/23 Serie A campaign would be to visit the major sports betting sites to find out what kind of odds they are currently offering for Juventus to win the league outright. At10Bet Africa, for example, you’re looking at American/Moneyline odds of around +750 for Juventus to win the league outright. When converted into UK fractional odds, this works out to 15/2, and in European decimal odds, it works out to 8.50.

In addition to sports betting markets, you can also play online slots for real money in Ghana at 10Bet, and it’s free to sign up to. You can also claim a new player welcome bonus as soon as your new account has been activated. Rather than betting on Juventus to win the league, a more sensible bet would be to place a wager on AC Milan. They are the current odds-on favourites to win the league and are now priced at around +250 (which is 5.2 in fractional odds and 3.50 in decimal odds).

How bad can it get for Juventus?

If things carry on the way they are, Juventus could also miss out on European football. For example, they would need to finish in at least 6th to qualify for the UEFA Conference League, in 5th place to qualify for the Europa League, or in 1st to 4th to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. They qualified for the Champions League last year, but they are currently in 3rd place in Group H with just 3 points after 3 games.

They have played 1, drawn 0, and lost 2, scoring 5 goals and letting in 5. PSG top the group. Benfica are currently in 2nd, and in 4th place behind Juventus are Maccabi Haifa. If they don’t start winning in this tournament, Juventus could also crash out of the Champions League in the group stage.

Will Max Allegri be sacked?

Despite Max Allegri’s record and being one of the most successful managers Juventus has ever had, if he doesn’t turn around the club’s fortunes over the next few games, there’s a good chance the board will have no other option but to sack him. However, would this be a costly mistake or the right decision? Is it time for the club to bring in a new manager before it’s too late? We will no doubt find out sooner rather than later.
If they do sack him, it shouldn’t take him too long to find a new job. However, he may not want to continue as a football manager after leaving Juventus. If he does, though, he could end up in the Premier League, La Liga, or one of the world’s other top-tier football leagues (e.g., the Bundesliga or Ligue 1).
