The House of Representatives at the plenary, Tuesday resolved to include consensus as an option for the nomination of candidates by political parties for various elective positions, in the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

The Speaker Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila made the announcement after the lawmakers reconvened from a 20 minutes closed-door session.

Recall that the lawmakers, last week, bowing to President Muhammadu Buhari’s demand reworked and passed the Bill.

However, while the Senate provided in the re-amended bill for direct, indirect primaries or consensus as the procedure for the nomination of candidates, the House only provided for direct and indirect modes.
