Bandits Kill Three Security Personnel, 19 Others in Kebbi

Police has said no fewer than 16 locals, two soldiers and one police officer were killed in Dankade, Danko Wadagu, Zuru Emirate in Kebbi South, Kebbi State as bandits invaded the community at the weekend.

According to the Kebbi State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the police and military personnel drafted to the area engaged the bandits and forced them to flee the community.

He said the bandits, through another route, invaded Dankade community where they killed at least 16 people, including one policeman, two soldiers and abducted some residents of the community whose number are yet to be ascertained.

He added that the bandits also set several houses and shops ablaze during the attack.

The police PRO said: “The Kebbi State Police Commissioner ( CP) Musa Baba has since mobilised armed officers and men to the scene of the incident for an on-the-spot assessment of the damages and restore normalcy in the affected community.”

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, accompanied by top government officials yesterday embarked on the spot assessment tour of the affected community in Southern part of the state to ascertain the level of damage done by the bandits and to as well commiserate with people of the area.
