Military Task Force Rescues Kidnapped Plateau Polytechnic Students

Military Task Force (Operation Safe Haven) in charge of security in Plateau State, has rescued the three students of Plateau State Polytechnic kidnapped on Wednesday from the Barking Ladi campus of the institution.

Information officer of the task force, Major Ishaku Takwa disclosure in a statement yesterday.

He said the feat was achieved when the troops deployed at Nding Sesut, a remote community in Barikin Ladi, noticed an unusual movement of persons during patrols, adding that “Troops immediately conducted cordon and search in the general area that led to rescue of the three students at an abandoned poultry farm.

“The victims have since been united with their families. Manhunt to apprehend the suspects is still ongoing.

Commending the vigilance and efforts of the troops, the Commander, of the task force, Major General Ibrahim Ali appreciated law abiding citizens who provided credible information to the security agencies.

He reiterated his resolve to make Plateau state a difficult terrain for criminals to operate.

Three students of the Plateau State Polytechnic were on Wednesday night abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits. THISDAY gathered that the gun men reportedly scaled the fence into the school at about 8pm, fired gunshots into the air to scare other students away before taking their victims away.

A student of the institution and eye witness, who gave his name as Leonard said the gunmen stormed ‘Plateau Embassy’ hostel close to the perimeter fence of the institution and whisked away the girls after shooting sporadically in the air.
