Akwa Ibom Revokes Outdoor Advertising Installations

Akwa Ibom State Government has revoked outdoor advertising installations in the state following alleged non-compliance with revised guidelines issued a year ago by authorities.

A statement issued by the state Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, Mr. Charles Udoh, yesterday recalled that the guidelines was issued on January 6, 2021, saying the revocation is with immediate effect.

The commissioner in the statement directed owners of outdoor advertising structures in the state to vacate such structures within seven-day of the notice.

According to him, “Following the spate of non-compliance with the revised guidelines on outdoor advertising in Akwa Ibom State issued on January 6, 2021, by the Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals, all approvals for outdoor advertising installations are hereby revoked with immediate effect.

“Owners of outdoor advertising structures are advised to vacate such structures within seven days of this announcement. The directives included structures under construction.

“After the expiration of the notice, structures will be removed by the ministry and owners of such structures will be blacklisted. New guidelines will be issued in due course. Members of the public and advertising practitioners are pleased enjoined to take note.”
