Kokumo, Abiru Others Honoured at TBG 5th Founders Day Event

Youths in the country have been advised to shun all forms of social vices and contribute positively to the growth of the country.

This was the key message at the 5th Founders Day celebrations of the Thursday Business Group (TBG).

Speaking at the event, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Johnson Kokumo in Charge of Zone 2, said that youth must be engaged to stem the rate of crime in the country.

Kokumo in his presentation titled: Security and Cultural Diversity in Nigeria and Beyond, identified critical members of the Security Business Group from the policing perspective such as policing operations, cultural diversity, social ethics and the community, quality of education, job availability, media and the People (Citizens).

Kokumo said: “Some areas of interest regarding security and its challenges in Nigeria include normalcy of crime, Geo-cultural zone distribution (peculiarities) of crime, efforts of security agencies that is manpower and weaponry, advocacy which is the People’s Police and the Nigerian Dream; the vision of a safe and prosperous Nigeria.”

He urged the members of the Thursday Business Group to remain focused and dedicated to the group’s vision.

This position was also echoed by other speakers at the event.

The event also witnessed the presentation of award to special individuals like Hakeem Muri Okunola, AIG Johnson Kokumo, Professor Alexander McGregor, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Hon Jimi Benson, Arc Kayode Anibaba, Otunba Bola Adeyeye who were identified to be contributing remarkably to the growth and development of the community.

Special recognition awards were given to the royal fathers of the day His Royal Majesty, Oba Alayeluwa Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, and the Oniru of Iruland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II.

Speaking at the event, the Guvnor of TBG Hon. Gbolahan Dixon thanked speakers and guest for finding time despite their busy schedule to honour the club with their presence. Hon Dixon also thanked donors for the night which also witnessed the launch of the TBG Foundation and the induction of new members into the TBG fold.
