April Showers, a Richards Omos Iboyi film, is set to hit cinemas nationwide on Friday October 15 this year.

It is an insightful film that creates awareness on the weight many older rich single ladies and single mums in their 40s face daily. This is because societal standards have labelled them arrogant, too affluent, and unable to keep a man.

Such ridicule from society, according to the producer, Sarah Bremaud, pioneered April Showers.

And through the acting skills of Lilian Esoro, Eyinna Nwigwe, Kunle Remi, BBNaija’s Pere Egbi, Anthony Monjaro, Racheal Isaac, Thelma Ibemere, Ogaga Godwin, Obatidey Kelvin, and Priscilla Okpara among others, the writer – Written by Pacass Adebayo details the woes and sensitive state of many successful single ladies and the many criticisms they tend to live with.

Directed by Richard Omos Iboyi, the fascinating film does not only shun the society against scoring these ladies, it encourages women in this category not to throw in the towel on love.

In the words of Iboyi during the movie screening in Lagos, “The message of April Showers is love. Love can find you at any age. It can find you at 40, 30, 20. Don’t give up on love.”

Having relished the stress and fun in directing the film, the producer urged Nigerians to go see April Showers. “Do not be told. You won’t regret it. We put our hearts into it. The cast, the crew – we worked hard to get the job done perfectly.”

Indeed, April Showers is not just out to entertain movie enthusiasts, it is also championing awareness and public enlightenment on the much damage triggered by societal standards that may be depressing or suicidal for the sufferer.

This intriguing film is able to reconform a viewer’s psyche towards the subject matter.
