EGIL Reaffirms Commitment to Workers’ Safety

The Management of Henkel through its subsidiary EGIL in Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to maintain the level of safety within its facility irrespective of its location of operations.

According to them, through an extensive local distributor network, EGIL provides thousands of jobs across the country with an estimated contribution of around 5,000 direct and indirect jobs in Nigeria.

Speaking recently in Ibadan during a tour of the facility, the Human Resources Manager, EGIL, Aliyu Jibril, said safety was imperative considering the numbers of workforce both directly and indirectly that helps in growing sustainably.

“Commitment to safety has been an integral part of our corporate culture for decades. Throughout the organization, our people are passionate about growing our business successfully, responsibly, and safely.

“In Nigeria, Henkel through its subsidiary EGIL, has continuously invested in the improvement of the production tools and the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) standards in its Ibadan site.

“We manage, design, and operate our facilities to maximize safety. Regular and comprehensive training courses are held multiple times a year at all sites to ensure employees perform their duties safely and responsibly,” he said.

Reiterating further, Jibril, said in Nigeria, the company fosters responsible economic activity of its employees, as well as customers.

Since its acquisition in 2016 has accumulated more than 3.8 million safe hours worked through the safety ambassador programme promotes a strong SHEQ feedback culture, conducts regular risk assessments and specific rules to safeguard the health and safety of third-party employees.

He maintained that as a growing industrial eco-system comprising local toll manufacturers and suppliers, support their daily operations such as raw material sourcing, packaging, transportation and trade marketing, among others; thus, contributing to the economy locally while satisfying the domestic demand for products.
