Nollywood actress and Dano Milk ambassador, Rachael Okonkwo popularly known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka is set to go big for her three days Easter Carnival slated from Sunday 2nd of April to 4 this year in Enugu.
The Enugu-state-born actress expressed her aim to reach out to the less advantaged persons and widows in the society.
“We get caught up in the need to fend for ourselves so much that sometimes we forget to remember those around us – the less privileged.
“The three days Easter carnival with Nkoli Nwa Nsukka is totally a non-profit event that is inspired by my love for education and the desire to put a smile on people’s faces,” she chipped in.
According to the philanthropist, she is not only giving back to the society, but she is also making the kids understand the importance of education and most importantly, empower the widows.
The event, which will take place at Enugu town, will have some celebrities like Patience Ozokwor, Eucharia Anonubi, Ngozi Ezeonu, Chiege Alisigwe, Nkiru Silvanus, Ebele okaro, Kcee, Ken Erics, Fedrick Leonard, and Zubby Michael among others.
The big budget event is painstakingly powered by Dano milk and supported by the Enugu state government.
Earlier, the award winning actress and ambassador on youth development in the state stressed her intention to visit children at remote areas to share gifts items.
Some items to be doled out are Dano milk, educational materials, lunch boxes, school bags, and some leisure items like toys and bicycle for kids. Over 800 pairs of solid shoes for hawkers, conductors and other needy. Bags of rice, Tomatoes, salt, seasoning, wrapper and semovita for the widows.
The actress expressed the effect of her new strategy to in touching lives in her own little way. “It wasn’t an easy task for me to come up with an idea on how to give back to the society without gathering such crowd that usually attend this carnival ere the pandemic.
“I had to think outside the box and come up with the idea of reaching them at home instead of bringing them together,” says Nkoli Nwa Nsukka.
While noting that over 6,000 children and families attend the event, the screen diva lamented that due to Covid-19 she couldn’t risk their lives; hence the plan to reach the kids at home, the youths at the market and host only widows on Easter Sunday.
