Former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang has appealed to President Mohammadu Buhari to consider granting a presidential pardon to his predecessor, Senator Joshua Dariye, who is currently serving a prison term.

Jang was speaking yesterday at the finals of the Plateau North Peace and Unity football tournament at the Rwang Pam township stadium in Jos.

He said, “It is time for us as Plateau people to speak with one voice.

“I want to plead with Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari to grant our son, Senator Joshua Dariye pardon so that he can come back and join us.”

He charged politicians in the state to emulate Senator Istifanus Gyang of Plateau North, organiser of the maiden peace and unity football tournament in the state.

Jang said, “we need more of such initiatives so we can identify and encourage local talents that will represent Plateau and Nigeria in local and international competitions.”

He equally appealed for Presidential pardon for former Taraba State Governor, Rev. Jolly Nyame.

He said: “These two are dear to us in Plateau and Nigeria and it is our earnest prayer that the President considers our request, as we continue to pray for him (Buhari) to succeed in his tenure.”
