The Governor of Kano State, Mr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has approved the 2021 Health Outreach Campaign on Oral Health meant to sensitise the entire populace of Kano State.

The outreach, according to the state’s Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, was planned to take place in the five emirate councils of the state.

Tsanyawa, who made this known to reporters on Sunday in Kano, said that 15,000 people would benefit from this year’s intervention.

He said that at least 3000 people would be selected from each emirate.

He recalled that Ganduje ordered the ministry in 2020 to commence massive oral health awareness activities across the state.

The commissioner explained that nearly 13,000 Kano residents benefitted from the intervention.

He, however, mentioned that the intervention would include scaling and polishing, filling and restoration, partial denture, extraction and fluoride therapy, adding that participants would be provided with dental health kits such as tooth paste, tooth brush, dental floss and mouthwash as well as health education on oral health and demonstration on how to use brush and other good oral hygiene practices.
