The Federal Government has ruled out the possibility of negotiating with terrorists saying doing so will suggest weakness on the part of government.
The National Security Adviser to the President, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd), who stated this Thursday at the weekly Villa media briefing also disclosed that government had no intention of engaging mercenaries in its fight against insurgents and other forms of insecurity in the country.
While foreclosing the possibility of negotiating with insurgents and bandits, the NSA however stressed that government will deploy all within its power to flush them out of the country.
According to him, “While government is not averse to talking with these entities, it also has to fully apply its weight. You can’t (negotiate) with people who are unreliable and who will continue to hurt society. We will apply the full weight of the government to deal with these criminals”.
