The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has commended the Zamfara State Governor, Mr. Bello Matawalle for exposing a soldier and his girlfriend, accused of supplying bandits with military uniforms and ammunition.
The forum also commended the state government for removing traditional rulers accused of collaborating with bandits and kidnappers in the state.
In a statement issued yesterday in Kaduna, the spokesman of the forum, Mr. Emmanuel Yawe, recalled that about a week ago, the ACF asked Matawalle to name the people collaborating with bandits and kidnappers in the state following the governor’s statement that Nigerians will be shocked to know those behind the kidnapping of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of the state.
Yawe said the forum is happy that the governor has acted appropriately.
“We are happy to note that the government of Zamfara has acted appropriately.
“A soldier and his girlfriend have been arrested in the state for supplying arms and military uniforms to bandits.”
Yawe also noted that, “the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Zamfara state governor who represented him at a press conference said the arrest followed information supplied by community based intelligence.
“The governor has also approved the removal of Emir of Maru, Abubakar Chika and the district head of Kanoma, Lawal Ahmed, for allegedly giving support for bandits responsible for hundreds of deaths.
The statement noted that the Emir and the district head had been on suspension since June 2020 and were under investigation which found them guilty of the complaints from their subjects that they were collaborating with bandits and kidnappers.
“We of the ACF congratulate the Zamfara State government led by Bello Mutawale for these bold steps.”
The ACF further urged the governor to carry on with “the good work he is doing”.
“The Almighty Allah who does not sleep will protect him. Nothing will happen to him”, Yawe said.
