Sokoto Loses Commissioner for Home Affairs

Alhaji Abdulkadir Jeli Abubakar, Sokoto State Commissioner for Home Affairs, is dead. He died after a protracted illness at the age of 64.

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal joined other mourners who witnessed the funeral of the commissioner, Thursday evening.

A younger brother of Sultan of Sokoto Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the deceased was Commissioner for Information and National Orientation in Tambuwal’s first term.

He is survived by two wives, many children and grand children.

A statement by Special Adviser to Governor Tambuwal on Media and Publicity, Mohammad Bello, said the late commissioner had since been buried according to Islamic rites.
