Operatives of the Lagos State Police have arrested 71 people for violating COVID-19 protocols. They were arrested when operatives raided night clubs in Lekki and Surulere areas of the state.

The suspects, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, were arrested on January 3 at 3am while 13 vehicles were impounded.

The clubs raided include Folix Club, Lekki; and Bench Bar at Adeniran Ogunsanya in Surulere.

The Taskforce impounded 13 vehicles for violating the 12 midnight to 4am curfew and two others for driving against traffic on same day.

According to Adejobi the State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, instructed the Taskforce, DPOs, and other operational units in the command to bring to book deviant individuals who might violate the orders.

He said the CP also ordered the immediate trial of the suspects and necessary sanctions for the owners of the impounded vehicles.

As directed by Odumosu, officers and men of the command must intensify efforts on total compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols as rolled out by the Presidential Taskforce and the Lagos State Government.
