Nigeria Records 1,074 COVID-19 Cases on New Year Day

A total of 1,074 cases of covid-19 were recorded on January 1, 2021. This brings the total number of confirmed cases recorsed so far to 88,587
Also five deaths were recorded on the same day bringing the total number of deaths so far to 1,294.
A daily report of COVID-19 spread and containment measures posted on the website of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control ,(NCDC) and monitored by THISDAY also showed that so far 74,373 cases had been discharged in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory
The 1074 new cases were reported from 15 states- Lagos (642), Kaduna (92), Rivers (78), FCT (66), Gombe (66), Kano (35), Ogun (31), Katsina (22), Plateau (20), Abia (7), Niger (4), Oyo (4), Akwa Ibom (3), Delta (2), and Osun (2).

NCDC said a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC) had been activated at Level 3, and that it has continued to coordinate the national response activities.
