The Possibility Specialists Foundation (PSL) has extended its hand of support to the development of education in Ogun State, giving scholarships to three primary school pupils who emerged victorious from its 2020 School Challenge Quiz and Talent hunt competition.

The three pupils, Taiwo Ewaoluwa and Adeoye Taiwo from Adeola Odutola Elementary School, Ijebu-Ode, who came first and second during the grandfinale of the quiz-competition held at Ijebu-Ode Grammar School received scholarship awards of N200,000 and N150,000 respectively while Ogunjere Olaoluwa from Tai Solarin University Staff School came third and received N100,000 scholarship awards.

However, these monetary prizes would not be handed over to the pupils but be kept in the PSL empowerment scheme, where for 15 months, the pupils will be collecting 20% of their various cash prizes monthly for 15 months.

Speaking at the event on Thursday, the PSL Business Development Officer, Ghomorai Williams Epuamowei, explained that “for instance, Taiwo Ewaoluwa with 1st prize of N200,000 will collect monthly education empowerment of N37,400 for 15 months, totalling N561,000; Adeoye Taiwo with second prize of N150,000 will receive monthly education empowerment of N28,000 for 15 months, totalling N420,000, while Ogunjere Olaoluwa with third prize of N100,000 will receive N18,700 for 15 months, making N280,500 within the time frame”.

The winners of the scholarships were also presented with educational tablet worth N28,000 each, while solar powered lamps were given as consolation prizes to all who participated in the competition. There were also winners in dancing and singing category from Treasure Land School, Ijebu-Ode.

Epuamowei disclosed further that PSL’s core value remained impacting lives and operating the principle of ‘donate and get empowered’, saying the foundation had skills to empower Nigerians financially.

According to him, “PSL support funds are meant to activate an empowerment fund in the PSL, which will be channeled towards the child’s tuition by the way of bursary.

“The monthly empowerment funds will be remitted through the parents or guardians of the beneficiaries or paid directly into the child’s bank account.

The qualified pupils are expected to maintain good grades, and high academic standards not less than 70% performance during the quiz”.

PSL leadman, Egona Abraham, while addressing the pupils, urged them to reciprocate the kind gesture of the Foundation by striving for excellence in their studies, saying that the foundation would be proud to further support them in their studies if they work harder.

Egona encouraged them, that he was once like them and an old student of Ijebu-Ode Grammar School where the grand finale was held.

According to him, they are the future of Nigeria and require adequate attention to succeed and be great.

He assured that PSL would take the exercise to the national level, to affect more lives in the country.

Mrs. Helen Okon, proprietress of Trinity Kiddies Academy, lauded PSL for its interest in supporting the education sector, saying that any organisation supporting a cause of education deserved all the accolades, because such organisation is interested in pushing for the country’s advancement.

“I love the courage put in by the organisers of this programme. It’s an event to showcase the accountability of our children. It’s also to showcase the ability of the school: what the school has been imparting on the children.

“Being the first time of hearing about PSL, I can assure you that I want to be a part of the foundation. I want to give back to the society”.

In the same vein, President of the Erudyte Global Edutainment and collaborator of the event, Mr ‘Seyi Sowunmi, described the event as one designed for schools in Ijebu-Ode, to identify academic champions, even as he commended PSL for its thoughtfulness.
