Kano Speaker, Majority Leader Resign

Kano State House of Assembly Speaker Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa has resigned his appointment.

Mr Gafasa said his resignation was based on personal grounds in a letter obtained by our correspondent in Kano sent to the house on Tuesday.

Gafasa represents Ajingi Constituency in Kano South senatorial district and was speaker during Mr Shakarau administration.

The speaker’s resignation letter, dated December 14 was addressed to the Clerk and Permanent Secretary.

Also, the Majority Leader of the House, Kabiru Hassa Dashi from Kiru local government area, has resigned but no reason was given for his resignation.

The two principal members of the House sent their resignation through the clerk of the Assembly.

The Clerk of the Assembly, Abdullahi Alfa, has confirmed to THISDAY that he has received the resignation letters.

Also, the Majority Leader of the House, Kabiru Hassa Dashi from Kiru local government area, has resigned but no reason was given for his resignation.

The two principal members of the House sent their resignation through the clerk of the Assembly.

The letter were hand-written on a plain white paper and not the official letterheaded papers of their constituencies or the Assembly.
