Akeredolu’s Chief of Staff Wife, One Other Kidnapped in Ondo

One of the wives of Mr. Olugbenga Ale, the Chief of Staff to Ondo State Governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, was late Thursday abducted along with another woman, by suspected gunmen.
The women, were kidnapped at Owena area on Akure-Ondo Highway of the state while coming from Lagos, where they had gone to buy goods for sale in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The abduction of the women came barely hours after a First Class Traditional Ruler, the Olufon of Ifon in Ose Local Government Area, was killed around Elegbeka on Owo-Ifon Road.

Another woman, who was also an occupant of the vehicle, escaped from the kidnappers while the driver of the vehicle, which belongs to the wife of the Chief of Staff, was left off the hook by the abductors.
“The woman was abducted at Owena along on Akure-Ondo Road.

“The case has been reported to the security agencies especially the Amotekun and army to comb everywhere and we are expecting a feedback soon,” a government official said.
An aide to Akeredolu, who asked not to be named, also confirmed the incident, noting that it occurred late on Thursday.

He said, “The governor is aware of the incident already and has also visited the house of the Chief of Staff at Alagbaka with plans to ensure the safe release of the woman.
When contracted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Ondo State Command, Mr. Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The woman and others were on their way to Akure, when the gunmen stopped their vehicle.
“As I am talking, policemen, army and men of paramilitary agencies are combing the forest to rescue the people.”
