NBA Urges FG, States to Bring Violent Protests under Control

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) yesterday urged the federal government and the various state governments to take lawful proactive steps in containing the current volatile situation in the country.

Its President, Mr. Olumide Akpata, said this when he visited the Lagos State High Court Complex, Igbosere to conduct physical inspection of the damage caused by the attack on the premises last Wednesday by hoodlums.

The NBA president who in company of the Chairman of the Lagos Branch of the association, Yemi Akangbe, with other Bar leaders, commiserated with the victims of the attack and assured them of the association’s cooperation in ameliorating their losses.

The delegation also met with the Chief Judge of the state High Court, Justice Kazeem Alogba and together, they combed the facility to ascertain the level of damage.

The NBA president and his team also visited the nearby City Hall Building, which housed the NBA Lagos Branch Office and was led by the Chairman of the Branch on this phase of inspection.

While at the City Hall building, the president met with victims of the attack, particularly the proprietors of the five law firms housed in the City Hall whose offices were looted and vandalised by the hoodlums..
