Ondo Lifts Curfew

The Ondo State Government late last night announced the lifting of the 24 hour curfew earlier imposed in the wake of the #EndSARS protests. This is with effect from Saturday, October 24, 2020.

The lifting of the curfew was disclosed in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Donald Ojogo. The State Governor, Mr. Okuwarotimi Akeredolu said the decision to lift the curfew followed consultations with security chiefs in the state after a preliminary assessment of the situation in the state.

Akeredolu, said the decision to lift the curfew, was mostly encouraged by the relative peace in Akure, the state capital.
“The relative peace in the state capital, Akure appears very encouraging just as the people’s resolve, especially the youths, not to allow brigandage under any guise is equally palpable. It is, therefore, only normal that law abiding residents are allowed to go about their legitimate businesses”, Governor Akeredolu asserted.

Government however, emphasised the need for all to be vigilant and law-abiding. This is more so, that security agencies deployed to strategic areas of the State capital are under strict directives to enforce law and order for the enforcement of
