Buhari Mourns Awolowo’s Daughter, UNN Chief Imam

President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the family of former Premier of the Western Region and nationalist, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, over the passing of Mrs. Tola Oyediran, eldest daughter of the late sage.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu, in a statement issued Friday said the President commiserated with friends and associates of Mrs. Oyediran, particularly her only surviving sister, Mrs. Tokunbo Awolowo, over the sad loss, urging the family to take solace in the investments of the deceased in making life better for others.

Also, the President has commiserated with the Idoko family and the entire University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) community on the passing of Sheikh Adam Idoko, Chief Imam of the University mosque.

The statement said President condoled with the Muslim community in South East Nigeria over the demise of the spiritual leader who he described as an embodiment of selfless service and modesty, according to the teachings of the Islamic faith.

“As a bridge builder and for his many contributions to his community, President Buhari affirms that the late cleric will be sorely missed for all he stood for during the years he was Chief Imam at one of Nigeria’s premier universities,” the statement added.
